- Anaerobic Digestion & Biogas
Miles Macadam Groundlink is a member of the ADBA (Anaerobic Digestion and Biogas Association) founded in September 2009. The ADBA is focused on the education, development and quality standards associated with all aspects of the anaerobic digestion of waste products and the resulting biogas as a renewable energy resource. ADBA's aim is to develop biogas as one of the UK's major sources of energy within 10 years.
- What is Anaerobic Digestion?
Anaerobic digestion (AD) is a biological process making it possible to degrade organic matter by producing biogas (a renewable energy source) and a digestate or sludge which can be used as fertiliser. The UK is currently the largest contributor to landfill in Europe and desperately needs renewable alternatives in order to reduce emissions and dependency on landfill.
By integrating AD in farms, Local Authorities and other biodegradable waste producers we can reduce their emissions and diminish the amount of methane entering our atmosphere. (Methane is over 20 times more harmful to the environment than CO²).
Groundlink is currently developing value systems with partners to encourage micro generation in the UK. We are proud to be involved with the ADBA - an association engaged in promoting a viable and renewable alternative to managing our future waste and energy needs.
